New UMPC platform & Current UMPCs

It’s tough for me to break down and buy a new computer to use as an electronic lab notebook right now.

Let me tell you why:

  • SSDs are about to burst on the scene Q2 – adding not only speed but battery time. LINK
  • A dedicated new platform is coming from Intel – “McCaslin” is smaller, uses less power, and ‘standard’ which may reduce costs. LINK
  • The new batch just isn’t looking that good – The OQO 02 tested at about the same as the 01+! LINK Gimme a break.

    • Granted, I could wait forever for the next big thing. Things are moving so fast.
